Get to Know Me !

My name is Zeltzin I go by she/they. I love the mornings if I am properly rested if I don't get enough shut-eye I don't enjoy the mornings as much. My major will be in psychology but I have an interest in law and activism. During the pandemic, I learned that I strive better in a setting with a community filled with love and help. How much I enjoy people watching and talking to random people.

In class we have been assigned two movies that I think you would love to watch, the “Social Dilemma” and “Coded Bias” which talk a lot about how technology companies have no regulations and with the power they hold it is important that they do. A lot of the time we see tech as a unbiased entity but the truth is that tech has just adopted a new vehicle Ruha Benjamin in their book Race After Technology argues, “that tech fixes often hide, speed up, and even deepen discrimination, while appearing to be neutral or benevolent when compared to the racism of a previous era” In one of the videos assigned for us in our Race,Power, and Gender we also learned about the over sexulatzion, women get coded as girls online because the infantilization of women in society, these coded sexism reinforces the bias that women are capable of less than men and only good for sexual pleasures. Women as a whole are coded in sexism but white women tend to have more “room” to be seen of higher value then women of color. The example shown in the video, you search up “beautiful” and images of white women come up but on the contrary you search “Black women” and pornography comes up. This furthers the ideals of white supremacy, white women are to be protected and pure but women of color are seen as sex objects or are made feel as if they are not fully women.
